RESOLUTION

To the Honorable, the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas of Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.

Your Committee appointed to draft suitable Resolutions upon the death of Harry C. Parsons, Esquire, a member of the Bar of Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, respectfully report as follows:

Harry C. Parsons died in the Williamsport Hospital on Monday, October 26, 1953 at the age of 77 years.

After graduating from Princeton University in the Class of 1898, he entered the office of his father, the Honorable Henry C. Parsons, as a student, and upon his father’s death transferred, as a student, to the office of John T. Fredericks and after spending two years in such office was admitted to the Bar of this County as a practicing attorney on October 26, 1901 on motion of the Honorable Harvey W. Whitehead by order of the Honorable Max L. Mitchell, the Judge of the Courts of Lycoming County.

After his admission to the Bar, Mr. Parsons after a few years gave up active practice as an attorney at law and engaged first in the brokerage business and later in the real estate business. In 1948, he was appointed City Assessor in which office he continued until the date of his death.  For a number of years prior to his death, he was a member of the Board of Trustees of The Savings Institution of the City of Williamsport in which office his father preceded him.

His kindness in manner and geniality of disposition brought him a large school of friends by whom he will be sincerely missed as a loyal friend and an upright citizen.

He took a deep and unselfish interest in the general welfare of the community, giving unstintingly of his time and attention to all matters directly or indirectly pertaining to the City, County and State in which he resided.

By the death of Mr. Parsons, this Bar loses an honored member; this community a useful and altruistic citizen and his family a faithful and devoted member.

The members of the Lycoming County Bar, in meeting assembled, have desired, through this Committee, to record this expression of their esteem that the same may be entered at large upon the minutes of the Court of Lycoming County.
