In The Matter of The Death of Don P. Larrabee

To The Honorable, The Judges of The Court of Common Pleas of Lycoming County:

Pursuant to the Order of this Court, the appointed committee has met and prepared resolutions, herein set forth and respectfully submitted:

DON LINCOLN LARRABEE was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the 13th day of February, 1905 and departed this life November 3, 1972 at the age of 67. His parents were Don M. Larrabee, for many years a Judge of the several Courts of Lycoming County, and Olive Moore Larrabee. Don is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Humeston Larrabee, and by a brother, David M. Larrabee. He attended Williamsport Dickinson Seminary and thereafter attended and graduated from Allegheny College, in Meadville. He later became a student at the Wharton Business School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania and thereafter attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. He was admitted to the Bar of Lycoming County on the 19th day of April, 1938. He had his own Law Office until the latter part of his life, when he had an in formal association with his nephew, Don M. Larrabee, II.

Don L. Larrabee taught a course known as “Legal Principles” at Lycoming College, Williamsport, Pennsylvania a period of twenty-seven years. He deeply appreciated this phase of his life and had warm and effective relationships with his many students. He was an active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Williamsport, Pennsylvania and was a member and past commander of Garrett Cochran Post No. 1, of the American Legion. A member of Masonic bodies for more than forty years, he was past master of Lodge No. 51 F & A M, Philadelphia, and a member of the Williamsport Consistory. During the Second World War he served in the United States Navy and left the Service with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Mr. Larrabee was a member of the Lycoming Law Association, being president during the year 1951, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the American Bar Association. While Mr. Larrabee had a broad, general practice, he specialized in Orphans’ Court Law. Mr. Larrabee was a careful practitioner, industrious and respected.

His death on Friday, November 3, 1972 has deeply stirred the hearts and minds of his colleagues and many friends from all walks of life, He was a man of numerous and unusual capabilities.

BE IT RESOLVED, that through the death of Don Lincoln Larrabee the Bar of Lycoming County of the State of Pennsylvania has lost an able and esteemed member; Williamsport has lost a valued citizen; and his wife a loving and faithful husband. We deeply sorrow at his passing.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be spread at length upon the Minutes of the Court of Common Pleas of Lycoming County and that a copy of this be sent to Mrs. Larrabee.
