Robert James Wollet, member of the Lycoming Law Association and former Judge of the Lycoming County Court of Common Pleas, died on May 19, 1990. He was memorialized at a session of court held May 25, 1990.

IN RE: APPOINTMENT OF A COMMITTEE TO DRAFT RESOLUTIONS IN THE DEATH OF THE HONORABLE ROBERT JAMES WOLLET

RESOLUTIONS OF THE COMMITTEE

TO THE HONORABLE JUDGES OF THE COURT:

The Committee appointed by your Honorable Court to prepare Resolutions concerning the death of The Honorable Robert James Wollet, reports as follows:

Robert James Wollet was born July 17, 1927, in this city was the son of Harold E. and Sarah Snyder Wollet.

Following his graduation from Williamsport High School, he joined the Air Force enlisted reserves entering active duty on August 4, 1945. He was discharged on December 15, 1948, however, was called to active duty for a year during the Korean War.

Robert James Wollet attended the University of Pittsburgh and Lycoming College, prior to graduating from Bucknell University in 1953.

He received his juris doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in 1956. He returned to Williamsport, serving his clerkship under Michael J. Maggio and was admitted to practice before the Courts of Lycoming County on February 29, 1957.

Robert James Wollet served in many positions during his thirty years as a member of the Lycoming County Bar Association, including eight years as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. Additionally, he was Solicitor at various times for the Lycoming County Treasurer's Office, Lycoming County Sheriff's Office, Lycoming County Prothonotary, and was Solicitor for Lycoming County from 1972 to 1975, and again from 1980 to 1982, when he resigned to assume the position of Judge of the Lycoming County Court of Common Pleas.

He ably served as Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Lycoming County from 1982-1988. As judge, he supervised the Domestic Relations Office of Lycoming County. He conducted In numerous civil and criminal cases.

His associates in the private practice of law over the years were Michael J. Maggio, John Hayes, Dudley N. Anderson, and Daniel K. Mathers.

He was a member of the High Street Methodist Church.

He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Lodge; Council Chapter Consistory of Williamsport; the Williamsport Shrine Club; the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; Dietrick Lamade Lodge No. 55; the Antlers Country Club; the Kiwanis; and a life member of the Williamsport Wheel Club.

Robert James Wollet was involved In many charitable and volunteer organizations, including but certainly not limited to, the National Foundation, the Lycoming College Building Fund, the American Cancer Society, the Heart Fund, the Lycoming County United Way Fund, and was very active with many roles in the Lycoming County Republican Party.

His law practice covered a wide spectrum of law which included civil law, real estate, estate planning and administration, municipal and commercial law.

Robert James Wollet, who was active until the time of his death, died suddenly on the afternoon of May 19, 1990. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite; his stepmother, Florence Pantaskey Wollet, of this city, his son, Robert J. Jr., of Montoursville; three daughters, Mrs. Nancy Wollet Larson, of South Williamsport, Christine M. Walters, of Oley, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Kimberly A. Moore, of Williamsport: two brothers, John E., of Montgomery, and David B., of South Williamsport; a sister, Mrs. Albert DeTurk, of Bradenton, Florida, and five grandchildren.

Robert James Wollet was a respected member of the Bar of Lycoming County. He enjoyed life and he enjoyed his friends. He was in every way a model citizen and an inspiration to all who knew him.

As a result of his death, this Bar Association has lost an able and skillful advocate. His family has lost a loved and loving husband, father and brother, and society has lost an effective and contributing member.

Your committee recommends the adoption of the following Resolution:

BE IT RESOLVED that in the passing of Robert James Wollet there has been a loss to the Bar of Lycoming County of an able and conscientious member who practiced and upheld the highest traditions of the legal profession, to the community, a valued civic leader, and to his family, a kind and loving husband, father and brother, and to his friends and acquaintances, a fine gentleman.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Court and this Bar do hereby extend to his widow, his children, his grandchildren, his stepmother, his brothers and his sister, a deep and heartfelt expression of sympathy by this Resolution.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread at length upon the minutes of the Court of Common Pleas of Lycoming County, and that copies of same be sent to his widow, his children, his stepmother, his brothers and his sister.

ORDER OF COURT

AND NOW, this 25th day of May, 1990 in consideration of the Resolution presented by the Committee appointed to draft Resolutions in the death of The Honorable Robert James Wollet, the said Resolution is adopted and it is hereby ORDERED and DECREED that the Resolution herewith submitted and attached be adopted as an official expression of the Lycoming Law Association and this Court, and that the same be spread upon the records of the Court; and that copies of this Resolution be delivered to the wife, children, stepmother, brothers and sister of Robert James Wollet; and it is further ORDERED and DIRECTED that said Resolution be entered at large upon the record of the Court, and that it be printed in the Lycoming Reporter.
