Annual Banquet 2007
The Lycoming Law Association began its 137th year with members and guests dining and socializing at DiSalvo's, in Williamsport. Pennsylvania Bar Association President Kenneth Horoho attended the event and concluded the evening with the keynote speech.
The evening began with cocktails and a chance to discuss the news of the day with friends and colleagues. Dinner followed with an entree selection of chicken francese or almond-encrusted sea bass.
John Pietrovito, who was elected LLA president earlier in the day, was master of ceremonies for the event. Bill Carlucci, last year's PBA president, introduced Ken Horoho, the PBA's 112th president.
President Horoho gave an inspirational speech on the importance of attorneys participating in pro bono efforts to assist the poor with their legal needs. He also took the opportunity to compliment the Association's members on their track record of a high level of participation in local pro bono programs. He reviewed several initiatives in the pipeline to improve the level of legal services to the less fortunate. He also pleaded for additional support for the PBA's political action committee to allow the PBA to continue to lobby in Harrisburg for issues of importance to lawyers.
Earlier, Danna Rich-Collins of North Penn Legal Services and Jack Humphrey, Legal Services for the Indigent Committee Chair, distributed the 2006 pro bono awards. LLA member Brian Bluth was named as Outstanding Volunteer of the Year. Five law firms and seventy individual attorneys were cited for their pro bono work.
