Nichols honored by library
50 year trustee of J. V. Brown Library
On January 21, 2010, the James V. Brown Library Board honored member William G. Nichols for dedicating nearly 50 years of service to the library. Nichols is also a 53 year member of the Lycoming Law Association. Nichols joined the library board of trustees in 1962 when he was 33— a time when the library was a place of only print materials, according to Executive Director Janice Trapp. Nichols was praised for directing significant expansion of both the building and the services the library currently provides, according to Trapp.
Board member Dr. William R. Somers, who replaced Nichols as president in December, 2009, presented him with a plaque. He expressed the hope that Nichols’ will continue his work as a trustee. Somers described Nichols as “a sage and a role model for younger people.”
Nichols thanked the board for the recognition.
