The YWCA of Northcentral Pennsylvania recently honored Judge Joy McCoy as an Unsung Hero. The recognition came at an October event which had the purpose of recognizing staff and volunteers who "give voice to the voiceless."
Judge McCoy, was thrilled to be recognized for her efforts. She received the Unsung Hero Award for her work with the Court Appointed Special Advocate program. McCoy said she appreciated her role and the YWCA's in CASA, a child advocacy program that trains volunteers appointed by a judge to serve as an advocate for abused and neglected children in the county.
Judge McCoy has been on the Lycoming County Bench since 2010 and is primarily responsibility for Family Court.
