2025 Bar Recognition Award Given to LLA

HARRISBURG, Pa. (March 7, 2025) — The Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) presented County Bar Recognition Awards to 26 local bar associations during the 59th Annual Conference of County Bar Leaders on March 6 in Gettysburg.

The awards, which are noncompetitive in nature, annually recognize bar associations throughout Pennsylvania for projects that improve the legal profession, justice system and community.
The Lycoming Law Association was awarded for participating in the following:

  • The LLA's Young Lawyers Division organized a collection of homemade blankets and coordinated donating them to Project Linus. The blankets were earmarked for the children in Lycoming County who are in the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program or have open Children and Youth cases. The YLD also organized a toy and clothing drive to benefit the Salvation Army and children in the CASA program.
  • The association held a Wills for Heroes event, which provided free estate planning documents to first responders and military veterans. About 70 heroes benefited from this one-day event.
  • Students submitted essays and art for the LLA’s annual Law Day competition. A committee of judges, lawyers and paralegals worked together to select winners, who were honored at a special ceremony held in the Lycoming County Courthouse. One student essay winner was selected to receive a $1,000 grand prize.

“It is a blessing to see attorneys and local bar associations directing their time and expertise toward programs aimed at improving communities and the legal profession. Whether it's through pro bono services, community education or the unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law, the tireless work and passion of our county bar associations strengthens our legal community and ensures that justice is accessible to all. We are grateful for this work and the collaboration with the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the difference it is making for our great commonwealth and its citizens," said Matt Holliday, PBA Executive Director.
