Bill Nichols and McNerney Page fund cost of 2 bronze statues

On August 22, Market Square in Williamsport officially became a baseball diamond. That's when the "Bases Loaded" monument, celebrating the 75th anniversary of Little League Baseball was dedicated.

The project was funded entirely with private funds and facilitated by the Lycoming County Chamber of Commerce.  The project includes a baseball diamond with a backstop and 10 life-sized bronze statues, representing Little League through the years.

Two Lycoming Law Association members sponsored statues. Retired attorney Bill Nichols sponsored the batter, who represents the present and future, will is depicted making contact with the ball as he hits a grand slam home run. The McNerney Page Vanderlin & Hall firm sponsored the manager statue.  The manager is the only statue that represents a particular individual, Little League founder Carl E. Stotz. Stotz, founded Little League so his nephews would have a place to play organized ball. He will be seated on a bench with space provided for someone to sit next him to be photographed.
