LLA & YLD write free Wills for Heroes

Wills for HeroesOn Saturday, October 17, Twenty-two volunteers, including 16 lawyers, gave their time to provide pro bono legal services to 20 families of both volunteer and paid heroes.

Six stations were set up for six hours at the Old Lycoming Township fire hall where local first responders brought their spouses, partners and families to obtain documents and ask questions about wills, living wills and powers of attorney. "These are people with dangerous jobs and if something were to happen to them, their families now have these important things our volunteers are giving them today," said Michele S. Frey, executive director of the Lycoming Law Association.

Kristine Waltz coordinated the event that brought attorneys, notaries and witnesses to the fire hall. LLA lawyers who participated include: Adrianne Stahl, Beau Hoffman, Christian Frey, Corey Mowrey, Denise Dieter, Jennifer Ayres, Jonathan DeWald, Jessica Harlow, Kristine Waltz, John Pietrovito, Steve Sholder, Tammy Weber, Martin Wade, Pam Shipman, Patty Bowman, and Danelle Harvey.

The goal is to do at least two Wills for Heroes events a year from now on. And the demand is high. After just a week of promoting, all the time slots for Saturday were filled.
