In mid-February, President Ryan Tira and Executive Director Michele Frey met with the 2017 committee chairs for lunch at the LLA office. The chairs shared their goals for the upcoming year, and also any concerns for the LLA leadership to address for better operation of the Association.
At the 2017 LLA Annual Banquet, the Lycoming Law Association recognized Fred Holland with the William E. Nichols Community Service Award. The award comes with the obligation to designate a charity to receive a $1,000.00 grant from the Association. Fred chose K's for Cancer.
Since 1989, lawyers in Lycoming County have been donating fees earned as arbitrators to the LLA Foundation. In 2016, this program generated $8,240 in Legal Services funding. The check was presented to the staff of the Williamsport office on February 8.
On Monday, January 9, 2017 special guest PBA President Sara Austin was called upon to present theLycoming Law Association’s Honorable Thomas Wood Jr. Equal Access to Justice Award and a PBA Pro Bono Award. This year's winner, Jennifer Ayers received both awards.
